Let’s say your subject-wise grade points are:
Now, add these grade points:
9 + 8.5 + 10 + 9.5 + 9 = 46
Then divide the total by 5:
46 ÷ 5 = 9.2
So, your CGPA is 9.2.
To convert CGPA to percentage, CBSE uses a simple formula, Standard Formula (10-point scale):
Percentage = CGPA x 9.5 |
So if your CGPA is 9.2:
9.2 x 9.5 = 87.4 |
Your percentage is 87.4%.
CBSE studied the marks of students over the years and found that those who scored between 91 to 100 marks (Grade A1) had an average score of 95.
Since A1 equals 10 grade points, 95 ÷ 10 = 9.5. That’s how the multiplier was decided.
