Kerala Becomes the First State to Make Robotics Education Mandatory for Class 10 Students

In a first-of-its-kind move, Kerala has become the first state in India to make robotics education mandatory for all Class 10 students.
Starting from the 2025 academic year, students will learn how to build and program robots as part of their regular school syllabus.
With this bold step, Kerala becomes the first state in India to bring robotics education for SSLC students, setting an example for the rest of the country.
The Kerala Board has introduced robotics as a chapter in the Class 10 ICT textbook, under the title “The World of Robots.” This will be the 6th chapter in the textbook and will be taught from June 2, 2025, across all schools in the state.
To support this initiative, 29,000 robotics kits have already been distributed to high schools. This program is expected to benefit around 4.3 lakh students, giving them early exposure to robotics and technology through hands-on learning.
The robotics chapter is designed to teach students through real-life projects and practical activities. Some of the exciting things students will do include:
These activities help students develop problem-solving, coding, and critical thinking skills from a young age.
Robotics won’t be a separate subject, it will be part of the ICT curriculum, making it a practical and useful addition to their technology lessons.
The textbook and resources will be available in multiple languages, including Malayalam, English, Tamil, and Kannada.
Students will use the robotics kits provided to build and test projects as they learn. The kits are expected to include parts like motors, sensors, Arduino boards, and other beginner-friendly tools.
To make sure every child gets the best learning experience, Kerala is also training teachers to handle the new robotics curriculum. Teachers will:
This ensures that teachers are well-prepared to guide students and make the learning process smooth and exciting.
At Interval Learning, we believe that every child should get a chance to explore robotics and technology from a young age. That’s why we offer online robotics courses for students from Class 4 to Class 12, divided into Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced levels.
Our robotics curriculum is designed for:
We focus on hands-on learning, simple programming, and exciting real-world projects. Whether your child is just starting out or wants to go deeper into robotics, our classes will help them learn and grow.
We’re also working on launching AI education to make your child future-ready.
Enroll now and give your child the chance to build robots, learn coding, and become a tech creator with Interval Learning!
