Kerala First Terminal (Onam) Exam Time Table 2025–26 Out: Class 1 to 12 Kerala Exam Schedule

As the new academic year progresses, schools across Kerala are gearing up for the First Term (Onam) Examination 2025. These exams are an important milestone for students from Class 1 to 12, helping schools assess academic progress before the festive Onam holidays. The Kerala First Term Onam exams will be held from August 18 to August 28, 2025.
The Kerala Education Department has officially released the Kerala Onam exam timetable 2025, and it applies to students across LP (Lower Primary), UP (Upper Primary), High School (Classes 8–10), and Higher Secondary (Plus Two).
For parents, students, or educators looking for accurate information on Kerala's first-term exam date in 2025, this article has everything you need, from the full exam schedule to Onam celebration dates, passing criteria, and post-exam holidays.
The First Term Exams (Onam Exams) will be held in all schools following the Kerala State Syllabus, covering classes from 1 to 12. These exams will take place over a week and will be conducted in two sessions, forenoon (morning) and afternoon.
The exam schedule is applicable for:
Event | Date |
Onam Exams (All Classes) | August 18–27, 2025 |
Onam Holidays | August 29–September 7, 2025 |
School Reopening | September 8, 2025 |
Kerala has introduced new passing rules for the Onam exams. From now on, students in Classes 8, 10 (SSLC), and 12 (Plus Two) must score at least 30% in every subject to pass.
The earlier “all-pass” system has been removed, which means each subject is important for promotion. Students who fall short of 30% will not be failed immediately. Instead, schools will arrange special support classes to help them improve, followed by a supplementary SAY exam.
This new rule ensures every child has strong subject knowledge before moving to the next class.
For Lower Primary (Classes 1–4) and Upper Primary (Classes 5–7) students, the exam timetable is officially announced by the Kerala Education Department. These students will appear for various language and subject papers over a few days, with exams scheduled in morning and afternoon sessions.
Class 1 and 2 students will have flexible exam timings based on activity completion.
